Ask Tomaž Rotar a question

Visitor asks:

Dear Sir/Madam! I would like to ask for your opinion. Recently the crown came off a "post" – upper right lateral incisor. My dentist temporarily placed it back, but said that in the long term it did not make sense to cement it back, although the "post" remained in place and the crown is not damaged. He suggested an imp

Dear Sir/Madam! To decide whether the tooth can be retained or not, I would need an X-ray, which you can send to me by email. If the tooth cannot be retained, an implant is most often the best solution. Have a nice day!

Hello, a few days ago I had a lower wisdom tooth extracted. The condition did not improve during the first two days, so I returned to the clinic, where I was prescribed an antibiotic and advised to use ice packs. Three days have passed since then and the condition has improved only slightly: I can open my mouth only pa

Dear Sir/Madam! In the case of a severe infection and a poor immune response... recovery can last up to one month. In the case described, I recommend taking a systemic antibiotic (Amoksiklav) and possibly wound toilet. In some cases it is advisable to treat the affected area with

Hello! Question: the upper left central incisor has a diagonal filling, but the filling keeps breaking and crumbling. What should be done? The nerve is fine. Price? Can it be solved with a proper filling, or is a post or something else needed? Thank you for your answer and kind regards.

Dear Sir/Madam! In cases of larger defects of the tooth crown, I recommend a partial or full crown. If trepanation of the dental pulp has occurred, prior root canal treatment is necessary, and in that case the tooth will most likely also need to be restored with a radicular post.

Hello, I am recovering from a cold and my upper gums have started to hurt, yesterday on one side and today on the other as well. The gums look healthy and pink, are not inflamed, do not bleed when brushing or flossing, and I do not notice any purulent pockets. I see my dentist regularly. Could the cause be the cold, or

Dear Sir/Madam! The problem described is most often the consequence of unilateral or bilateral inflammation of the mucosa of the paranasal sinuses during a respiratory infection such as the one you describe. The root tips of the upper posterior teeth can be connected with the par

Hello! I am 17 years old and would need an implant. I inherited a congenitally missing upper right lateral incisor. How much would everything cost? How many times would I need to come to you during the whole procedure? Since this is hereditary and not merely an aesthetic procedure, does insurance cover anything?

Dear Sir/Madam! For the entire treatment we usually need four visits: -implantation -suture removal -impression -fabrication and placement of the crown. Price: -750 Eur (implant) -420 Eur (crown on implant) Have a nice day!

I am 36 years old. Because of an illness (an eating disorder), my teeth began to crumble and were attacked by caries. I have already lost many teeth; I fill the gaps in between with Super Attack glue so that they are less noticeable. The teeth are, of course, completely unusable, and I would need a complete denture. I

Dear Sir/Madam! Extracting the teeth does not take us much time. We can usually begin implantation approximately two months after removal of the remaining teeth, and in some cases immediately after extraction. The time interval depends on the overall treatment plan, the condition

Hello! 4 years ago I fell off a bicycle and injured my two upper front central incisors. One has been built up, while the other is already “dead” and filled. After 2 years, inflammation appeared on the second central incisor (the filled one); the dentist incised the gum so that the pus could drain. Now I have occasiona

Dear Sir/Madam! In the case of implantation in the area of the upper incisors, we often use immediate implantation (the tooth is extracted and the implant placed in the same session). The procedure takes a little over half an hour, and the sutures are removed after ten days. In m

On Tuesday, 3 January 2012, I went to my dentist because I had a granuloma and the first premolar had to be removed. I would like to know how long after that an implant can be made and when it is possible to come to you. Also the price? And which material is best? Thank you very much for your answer, kind regards, Jasn

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:This question is more than six months old, so the information in the answer may no longer be accurate.

Dear Sir/Madam! If the tooth has already been extracted, immediate implantation is no longer an option. The appropriate time for the procedure is therefore approximately two months after the extraction. Titanium is still the best material for implants. Price of the procedure: - E

Hello, I am missing the lower right first and second molars. What do you suggest as a solution? A bridge or something else? Is it necessary to grind the first and second premolars and the wisdom tooth in order to place a bridge? What is the price of such a bridge? On the lower left second premolar I have a prepared pos

Dear Sir/Madam! In principle, for making a bridge it is sufficient to load two neighboring teeth (the second premolar and the wisdom tooth), but what is written is not a rule; if the distance between the abutments is large, the crowns are low, the load on the bridge is high..., m
