Hello!
Eight years ago, more than half of my upper central incisor was knocked off. At that time they rebuilt half of the tooth artificially, and a smaller part of it (on the back and side) has since chipped off. The tooth has started to decay (only a little, but still), it often hurts badly, and it is also slightly loose.
What can be done in such a case?
Or will it need to be replaced with a new one?
What is the price? I maintain my teeth regularly, occasionally drink coffee or tea, and stopped smoking a year ago.
I would also like to ask about my upper lateral incisors, which are very small and crooked. What is the procedure; could they simply be covered with crowns? What is the price?
Thank you very much,
kind regards!
Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Sir/Madam!
Pain and mobility of the central incisor are signs that influence the choice of treatment. Pain indicates inflammation of the dental pulp, which requires root canal treatment. Its success depends on the amount of damage already present in the bone tissue around the tooth. An X-ray is therefore required to assess the prognosis. Marked mobility may indicate severe involvement of the periodontal tissues or even a root fracture. This diagnosis is likewise made with an X-ray. In the worst case, the tooth must of course be removed.
If the tooth can be retained, it would ultimately need to be restored with a crown (EUR 210). If the tooth is extracted, it must be replaced (bridge: 3 × EUR 210 = EUR 630, or implant: EUR 900 + crown EUR 420 = EUR 1,350).
Have a nice day.
