Hi!
I am interested in porcelain veneers. I would like to have them placed on both upper central and lateral incisors because these teeth have fillings and the color difference is visible. Can a small zirconia crystal also be bonded onto a veneer later on? Is it possible that such a crystal could damage the porcelain?
Thank you very much and have a nice day!
Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Sir/Madam!
Porcelain veneers are among the more demanding fixed prosthetic procedures and have a relatively narrow indication. The reason for choosing this treatment is subjective (the desire for a better appearance...). The procedure on the teeth is less radical than making conventional crowns, but it is still irreversible because the enamel layer on the front (visible) surface of the incisors is removed. If the teeth already contain many fillings or are considerably damaged, we prefer to make a conventional crown (which can likewise be made using all-ceramic technology). Veneers are relatively poorly resistant to overloads arising from biting or trauma. The aesthetic result is impeccable.
As for your question about the “zirconia crystal”, I did not fully understand what you meant.
Have a nice day!
