Hello,
I am 31 years old. In general I do not have problems with my teeth, I visit the dentist regularly and take care of oral hygiene. At my last visit, my dentist advised me to have two bridges made because I am missing both lower second premolars on the left and right (at the age of 20 I still had the deciduous teeth there, and permanent teeth never developed). The dentist also told me that because both second premolars are missing, gaps will gradually develop between my lower front teeth. At present, both my upper and lower front teeth look nice and healthy. The missing premolars do not bother me; I am only concerned about what can really happen to the lower front teeth.
The bridge is supposed to be placed on two prepared teeth (the first and second molars), not on the first molar and first premolar, as is usually the case with two adjacent teeth. I should mention that I have no problems with the first and second molars, although both have large fillings. I no longer have my wisdom teeth; I had them removed.
I would like your opinion — what should I do??? I am also interested in the approximate price of both bridges, including all work.
Thank you
Kind regards
Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Sir/Madam!
To make a decision I would need to see your orthopantomogram! In principle, the first premolars have a tendency to move into the gap behind them, so within a few years we can expect diastemas (spaces) at least between the first premolars and canines in the lower jaw. It is difficult to predict whether the same will happen with the incisors. In any case, dental doctrine aims to establish a continuous dental arch, because this allows biting forces to be distributed evenly throughout the whole arch. If your dentist has proposed bridges or cantilevers supported by the first and second molars, trust that decision. Personally, I can suggest placing implants at the sites of the second premolars. With this type of treatment, neighbouring teeth can be left intact (they do not need to be ground down). Prices of services:
-bridges: metal-ceramic crown (210 Eur) X 6 = 1260 Eur
all-ceramic (350 Eur) X 6 = 2100 Eur
Given the quantity, we offer you a 10% discount on everything.
-implants: implant (900 Eur) X 2 = 1800 Eur, crown on implant (420 Eur) X 2 = 840
Likewise a 10% discount.
Have a nice day.
