Dear Doctor!
I am about to undergo a thorough dental reconstruction, and among other things I will need a sinus lift with the addition of bone material for implant placement. I would like to know what this operation looks like, how difficult it is, how long it takes and whether complications are possible. I would also like to ask how one can eat after such a procedure.
Do you also perform such operations in your practice and what is the price?
Thank you for your answer and kind regards.

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Madam!
During a sinus-floor elevation operation, we place artificial or animal-derived bone material on the floor of the paranasal sinus, thereby creating the static conditions that are essential for implant survival. With an internal sinus lift, the sinus membrane is elevated by the implant itself as it is screwed into the alveolar ridge (the implant projects into the sinus cavity by no more than two millimetres). With an external lift, we open the sinus from the side (1 cm x 1.5 cm), elevate the sinus membrane and place the missing bone material around those parts of the implants that project into the cavity itself. The procedure is performed together with implant placement and takes a little over an hour. Complications are extremely rare, although mild swelling and bruising can be expected. There is no pain. Sutures are removed after ten days. After the operation, cool the area. Eating is normal (unless you have a complete denture).
Whether the procedure is possible and necessary would be assessed after reviewing the X-ray. We can perform it at our practice. Price: implant EUR 900, sinus lift charged per gram of artificial bone (1 g EUR 150).
We look forward to your visit!
