Dear Sir/Madam! I received a referral for oral surgery. I am 35 years old. My right canine never erupted, while the left one erupted approximately 6-7 years ago. Until then I also had the baby right canine, which was subsequently extracted. There is now a gap in that place, which I would like to fill. I understand that there are several possible solutions. I would like to know whether I could come to you for an examination so that we could discuss an attempt to correct the situation. I was told that the canine can be surgically brought into position. Is this covered by ZZZS (given that I have a referral valid for 12 months with authorizations 1,2,3)? Thank you for a prompt answer.
Kind regards
Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Sir/Madam!
The solutions in your case are as follows:
-fenestration of the bone and placement of an orthodontic attachment on the crown of the canine. Traction of the canine from the bone into the correct position with an orthodontic appliance. Final alignment of the dental arch with an orthodontic appliance. The success of this solution depends on anatomical characteristics and the position of the canine in the bone. The treatment is lengthy.
-Removal of the permanent canine from the bone and placement of a dental implant in the position of the permanent canine. This solution is faster and less expensive.
The described treatment in our clinic is self-pay. You can certainly make an appointment for an examination and consultation, which is free of charge.
Have a nice day!
