Hello, Doctor.
I had surgery in the front part of my lower jaw two months ago. The first three lower front teeth were repaired 20 years ago. Metal posts were inserted and teeth were placed on them. Now these three teeth are chipping, and after the surgery I would like to replace them with new teeth.
Can you do this using the existing posts?
How much of the treatment can be covered by insurance, and what exactly?
How much would the repair cost?
What type of repair of these three lower front teeth would you recommend?
How long would it take for the repair to be completed?
Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:
Dear Sir!
New crowns can be made on the existing posts if they are, of course, still in good condition, meaning that the X-ray and clinical examination provide no indication for their replacement. The insurance company covers the cost of veneered crowns. The old crowns might perhaps be repairable, but we could discuss that option after an examination. We naturally recommend making the highest-quality crowns possible, but it would be easier to discuss the material and method of repair if I had more information: the condition of the remaining teeth, the type of crowns you may have on other teeth, your overall dental status, a panoramic X-ray... I would like you to call us or even make an appointment for an examination.
We look forward to your visit.
