Hello! At present I have black cavities in five teeth that I would like to have treated. Since I have not been to a dentist for more than two years, I most likely have some additional cavities as well. The problem is also that I have had a very strong fear of dentists since childhood. I would therefore like to know whether all of this can be repaired at once under local anaesthesia, or in the most painless way possible, and what the price of all these repairs would be. Thank you.

It is often possible to carry out several procedures at once. Root canal treatments usually take place in two to three stages, and the same applies to prosthetic work. Everything is performed under local anaesthesia, so the work is painless. Based on the limited information provided about the problems, I cannot give you a quotation (you can consult the price list). For an exact quotation and to determine the time required for the work, please book an appointment on 040 294488.
Hello. I would like to know the price and likelihood of success of treating a lower first molar. After prolonged treatment, my dentist decided to extract the tooth. The tooth has three roots and has been filled with medication 6 times; it is now left open because pus is draining. I have no pain. Thank you, Franci.

Dear Sir/Madam! Based on what you have written, I believe the tooth has a poor prognosis. The price of treatment (assuming three visits) would be 270 Eur. For a more precise answer I would need to see the X-ray. Have a nice day!

Most often the cause of the pain described is an abutment tooth, whether vital or non-vital. X-rays in most cases show changes in hard dental or bone tissues, but these do not always correspond to the symptoms described (pain). We combine X-ray diagnostics with clinical signs (sensitivity to tapping, biting, temperature changes, changes in osmotic pressure...). If a diagnosis cannot yet be made at this moment, the clinical picture will soon become clear enough to make one, after which appropriate treatment can of course follow.

On this side I still have a feeling that my lip is being 'pulled'. The sutures have already been removed. I have already received a third course of antibiotics because the gum is visibly slightly inflamed and red. What worries me is that I feel no pain, the tingling does not go away and I have no taste. I would like to know how long it can take for this inflammation to heal and whether something could have gone wrong with the nerves in this area during the procedure, since things are still not settling after two weeks. Are permanent consequences possible?

Dear Sir/Madam!
Based on the symptoms described, I believe that conduction of stimuli along the mental nerve (the nerve responsible for sensation in the lower lip and chin) is still impaired. The problem can occur because of inflammation in the area of the apicoectomy or because of direct injury to the nerve. In any case, it is necessary to wait for the outcome. Laser treatment or certain medications can be used to speed recovery.

A friend who is a dentist removed the nerve and 'closed' the tooth. He said I would need a post and a crown (the tooth crown had broken off), and that it should be ceramic and metal-free because metal weakens over time. Roughly how much would that cost me? I am asking because I am not particularly well-off. Thank you.

I also need the upper left tooth 4 extracted and the upper right teeth 4 and 5 extracted. I would like to know within how many days all this could be managed—at least a temporary replacement—and what the best solution would be, given that I am 26 years old. I would also like to know the price of a temporary replacement and the price of the finished implant restoration. When could I come to you at the earliest? I really ask you to answer. Thank you. Dear Sir/Madam!
Removal of the listed teeth and fabrication of temporary prosthetic replacements can be done in one session (the replacements are ready approximately two hours after extraction). The best solution for replacing lost teeth is certainly placement of dental implants. In the area of the missing tooth 4 you would need one implant, and likewise for replacing the missing teeth 4 and 5 on the right side, except that there one implant would support two crowns. To decide how to replace the missing incisor, I would need to examine an X-ray and assess the condition. Another solution is replacement of the teeth with a bridge. All implants can be placed at the same time, but they are loaded after a certain period (approximately two months). Bridges are made within one week. To arrange an appointment, please call me on 040 294488. Next week (when we return from holiday) we still have some time available.

Hello! I am 25 years old. At the age of 15 I already had root canal treatment and canal filling of my upper first molar. The tooth does not hurt, is not sensitive to hot or cold, and even light tapping tests do not cause any pain. Because a filling was not the best solution for it, last year I replaced the filling with a crown and post. I told the dentist that the tooth feels normal, except that the gum around it seems somewhat thicker than around the first molar on the other side. On the lip side, right at the root tip, I have felt a small lump since the treatment that is tender to touch. It is the same colour as the gum and does not discharge or burn. It looks as if there is fluid underneath. The dentist removed the filling and cleaned the roots again, which had already been treated once (I think only three had been treated), inserted a post and placed a filling. The X-ray showed that it had been done well. However, I still have the thickened gum and a small flexible lump above the root tip, which is not present over the first molar on the other side of the dental arch. Do you perhaps know what else could cause the thickened gum and lump? Is it some kind of inflammation without pain? Do you think my dentist should refer me to a specialist? I forgot to mention that during the second cleaning of the canals, he could not insert that special file all the way because a small piece of something was blocking access. Therefore he did not go any further and cleaned as much as he could.

HELLO!
I have had tooth pain since March, and only now have specialists found that I have damaged nerves and I am undergoing irradiation. I would like to know whether this is curable, why it happens since nobody can explain it to me, and how long this treatment lasts because the pain is unbearable. I also have another unerupted wisdom tooth (one has already been removed) that is growing toward the second molar. Could this have caused these problems?

Based on what you have written, I believe you are suffering from neuralgia. The actual cause of the problem most often remains unknown, and treatment is limited to administration of various medications, laser therapy, irradiation, and blocks with anaesthetics and steroids. For more information, I would need to perform a clinical examination and take an X-ray.

Hello!
I am missing upper right teeth 4, 5 and 6. Previously I had a fixed bridge for 20 years attached to teeth 4 and 7. This March, because of an unsuccessful apicoectomy on tooth 4 (fractured root), I had to have that tooth removed. I now have a completely healthy, strong canine and a prepared tooth 7. My dentist suggested making a fixed bridge attached to tooth 3 and tooth 7. Because I would like to preserve tooth 3, I would like to know whether I can have an implant at the site of tooth 4. Could my dentist then make a fixed bridge attached to the implant at tooth 4 and to my prepared tooth 7? I would like to know whether this is possible or whether you would recommend something else. I would also like to know your waiting time for an implant (or whatever would be necessary) and how much it costs.
Kind regards and thank you for your answer. Dana

Price: 750 Eur (implant) 420 Eur (crown on implant) 210 Eur (crown or pontic) X 3 = 630 Eur. We try to adapt appointment times to patients' wishes. We are on holiday until 23 July 2012.
