I would like to ask whether you have a concession. My husband needs a dentist because he has not been to one for 25 years and is very afraid, so I would like to ask whether I could make an appointment for him.
For myself, I am interested in a fixed dental prosthesis. I am missing 5 teeth in the lower jaw and would like to know whether this is feasible because I am a heart patient (heart attack).
Thank you very much for your answer!!

We will certainly be happy to accept your husband. For an exact appointment, call 04/5300660. If we do not answer immediately, please try several times. I understood your question as a wish for a fixed prosthetic restoration, i.e. a bridge. The feasibility of such a project depends on the position and quality of your teeth. If the teeth are favourably positioned, we will be happy to make a bridge for you. For precise information about the type of treatment and the price, I would need to see a panoramic X-ray; in any case, a visit from you would also be welcome.

Kind regards. Because of my braces, quite a few of my upper teeth have been damaged. At least four are already fairly affected. I would like to know approximately how much the treatment would cost and how much time (how many visits) it would take to repair them. Thank you for your answer.

I assume that you have early carious lesions that developed because cleaning was hindered around the brackets and the wire that move your teeth. Most often, however, the cause of dissatisfaction is only discoloration of the teeth in the same area. If we want to restore the teeth properly with conservative treatment, the appliance needs to be removed; the fillings themselves can then be made relatively quickly. Price of the procedure: filling from EUR 40 to 70.

An edentulous lower jaw is always problematic in terms of the stability of a lower complete denture. We certainly recommend placing titanium implants in your jaw. The procedure is relatively simple and quick: 45 minutes for two implants. We incise the mucosa at the top of the ridge, drill the implant sites, insert the screws and suture the wound. After the procedure, we cool the area and take antibiotics. After ten days, the sutures are removed and the old denture is adjusted to the new condition of the gums. You wear this denture for another four months, after which we usually make a new one and connect it to the implants, which by then have already integrated with the bone. The price of an implant is EUR 900 + denture (EUR 500–700). The procedure is completely painless; your age is more than suitable.

If you are registered at our practice, it is certainly possible to charge the service to the insurance company. However, you should know that the insurance company will cover a classic veneered crown, which is not considered an aesthetic service. If you want a crown that meets modern standards, then choose at least a metal-ceramic crown, which is functional and aesthetic (price EUR 210), or an all-ceramic crown (price EUR 320). If you call the practice, the assistants will be happy to offer you an appointment date.

My chosen dentist referred me for dental X-rays. I went to ZD Kranj. When I entered the room, the radiology technician gave me a lead apron to put on. I asked how large a dose in mS I would receive, but she looked at me in surprise and said that she did not know, that she was not a physicist, and that the machine would show it after the imaging. I asked about the instructions for the imaging procedure and whether they had any brochure for patients, but she said they did not, and she did not want to explain it either. When I nevertheless insisted, she reluctantly told me that the head is positioned in the middle of the machine and the rays travel around the head and take images... and added, with some irritation, that other patients were waiting outside and that she was wasting time with me.
Because of the lack of requested information, I refused the imaging. She wrote "refused imaging" on the referral and gave it to me to sign. I told the lady I would sign only if she added that she had not wanted to provide the requested information, but she did not respond to that at all.
It would be right for patients to be informed about the procedure beforehand. We cannot simply place our heads into a machine without information...

Dear Sir/Madam!
Considering that you found our website, I am sure you will also find precise answers to your question on the same site. The received doses are minimal and negligible compared with other harmful influences encountered in normal life. Digital radiology, such as that used in Kranj, is even safer in this respect than conventional analog radiology. In addition, the information obtained from the imaging is more reliable. Nevertheless, even an apparently trivial healthcare service is a double-edged sword, and it is certainly right that you inform yourself about it. I also support your personal decision, because you are primarily responsible for your own health. You also decide on subsequent procedures for which X-ray imaging is a fundamental examination. Professional doctrine requires the dentist to perform basic diagnostic procedures that must be followed, because without them the dentist cannot continue the work. Your question is primarily a matter of trust in the therapist. If that trust is absent, then for the good of both of you I ask you to find another one.

If you are registered with the dentist, the insurance company pays for a post (conventional) and a veneered crown (if the dentist still makes them at all). In our practice, the price for such a service would be: zirconium post EUR 40, metal-ceramic crown EUR 210, all-ceramic Emax crown EUR 320, including the provisional restoration.

Dear Sir/Madam
If conditions in the mouth are favourable for making a white filling, meaning the cavity does not extend below the gum margin and we can use moisture isolation (rubber dam), then the manufacture and longevity of a white filling are not questionable. If, during the procedure, for various reasons we are unable to prepare a well-dried field, it is better to make an amalgam filling, because amalgam sets very successfully even in moisture. Loss of white fillings is mainly based on unsuccessful placement. Amalgam fillings have greater fracture strength, their toxicity is negligible, although it is true that they are not aesthetic. I would leave the choice of filling to the dentist who will make it.

The gap between the central incisors (midline diastema) can certainly be closed. One of the most classic approaches is to build up the medial (approximal) surfaces of both teeth. The procedure is non-radical; the teeth are not actually touched with a drill at all. We call this an adhesive or bonding technique. Composite materials (the same as for white fillings) are used for the build-up. Another approach, if the first is not satisfactory aesthetically and functionally, is more radical. We make two dental crowns that are aesthetically and functionally refined. Prices: build-up 2 x 45 Eur. Two crowns (metal-ceramic 210 x2), all-ceramic 320 x2 Eur.

I am retired and do not have a personal dentist. My teeth have occasionally been repaired, and various dentists have also made dental work for me, including partial dentures. The current condition of my teeth is as follows: a bridge on the four front upper teeth 3-1-1-3, but these teeth are no longer healthy because the gums are receding and parts of the teeth that were previously covered by the gums are showing. In the lower jaw I have a bridge on the front teeth 3-1-1-4 and an individual crown on tooth 5? on the right and 6 or 7 on the left. The overall condition is poor; the use of partial metal dentures loosened the remaining individual lower teeth, so I did not use the partial dentures for long.
I am interested in the possibility of making complete dentures and at least an approximate price for these procedures.

Dear Sir/Madam!
There are many possible solutions for your dental status. Let us start with the most basic ones. The standard solution for the upper dental arch is rehabilitation of the jaw with a partial denture (preferably a cast framework denture or cast base). The existing teeth 3-1-1-3 are prepared with fixed prosthodontics, meaning that they are restored with ceramic crowns. These crowns carry special attachments or slides that firmly retain the denture in the mouth. This would be the most common type of solution and prognostically it almost always proves very successful. The denture is also highly aesthetic because no metal elements are visible. The approximate price of the restoration is EUR 2050. If we move beyond the described denture, there is still the option of a restoration similar to the first one, with the difference being the retention elements. Here there are clasps or hooks cast from a single piece of steel, which still allow proper loading of the terminal teeth. A basic acrylic partial denture, which the insurance company recognises as the only one fully payable by them, could serve only as a temporary solution and not as a permanent restoration.
The solution in the lower jaw is similar to the upper jaw, and the treatment can likewise be divided into three main types of dentures. If professional assessment shows that the listed natural teeth are no longer suitable for any type of reconstruction, we recommend removal of these teeth and, if possible, placement of implants to improve the stability of complete dentures.
