Ask Tomaž Rotar a question

Visitor asks:

I am rather embarrassed that at the age of 41 I have to "complain" that I am afraid. It is not exactly fear; I get a phobia when I have to lie down with my mouth open. It is so severe that I develop an arrhythmia, and I am now trying to find a dentist who will give me some kind of "sedative" and replace the medication

Dear Sir/Madam! Fear of procedures in the mouth is very common and, to some extent, understandable, as the mouth is an area associated with many emotional reactions. A procedure in such an intimate area will always be at least partly an intrusive experience for a person, regardle

Hello, While mechanically enlarging the root canals, my dentist broke off the tip of a file, which has now remained in the tooth. He said he would simply leave it there. Since I did not want that, I asked about possible solutions and was given a referral to the dental clinic. My examination is not until 9 December 2009

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:This question is more than six months old, so the information in the answer may no longer be accurate.

Dear Sir/Madam! Breakage of a file in the root canal is a classic complication of root canal treatment. Removing the file is a difficult or even impossible procedure. The location of the fragment and its surface are essential factors affecting the difficulty of the procedure. An

Dear Sir/Madam! Fracture of an instrument in a root canal is a classic complication of root canal treatment. Removing the instrument can be a complicated and difficult procedure that can ultimately also cause additional complications in the affected tooth. If the tooth does not c

Visitor asks:

Dear Sir/Madam, On Sunday, both of my twelve-year-old nephew's upper front teeth broke off roughly halfway. Is there anything that can be done so that he does not have to remain with broken teeth until he turns eighteen, as his dentist suggested? I know his teeth are still developing, but we would like to help him duri

Dear Sir/Madam! The teeth can certainly be built up with composite materials (a completely non-radical procedure), which provides an aesthetically entirely satisfactory solution. The service is quick and painless. Have a nice day!

Visitor asks:

Hello, I am missing the lower right second premolar and first molar. I would like to know the price of implants, meaning the total price (implant, abutment, crown, work, etc.). I have heard that, depending on the situation, it is possible to use only one implant for two teeth. Is that true? Thank you and kind regards,

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:This question is more than six months old, so the information in the answer may no longer be accurate.

Dear Sir/Madam! Treatment results are better when patients are provided with a larger number of implants, which is entirely understandable because of more favourable statics. If the gap is shorter than usual for two teeth (because the second molar has moved forward), then two cro

Dear Sir/Madam! I am a 21-year-old woman considering replacing my six upper front teeth because they are very crooked, purely for aesthetic correction. The two central incisors are large and asymmetrical, the lateral incisors are smaller and turned slightly inward, while the canines are pointed. Since I would like a ni

Dear Madam! Aesthetic corrections can be carried out in several ways: -adding to and reshaping the dental crowns with composite materials; the procedure is non-invasive and the condition can be returned to the original at any time. The result is not as durable as prosthodontic re

I still have old, black fillings in my teeth. I would like to replace them with new white ones, so I am interested in how painful this is and how much replacing one tooth costs. I would also like to know how much it would cost to grind down one tooth that is very pointed at the top. Thank you and kind regards

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:This question is more than six months old, so the information in the answer may no longer be accurate.

Dear Sir/Madam! Replacement of fillings is usually performed under local anaesthesia and is a completely painless procedure. Prices of white fillings: -one surface 55 Eur -two surfaces 60 Eur -three surfaces 65 Eur. We look forward to your visit.

Hello. Next week my dentist will be removing the nerve from my lower second molar. I would like to know whether this hurts, whether the nerve is removed without anaesthesia, or whether an injection can be given. Thank you for your answer.

Dentist Tomaž Rotar answers:This question is more than six months old, so the information in the answer may no longer be accurate.

Dear Sir/Madam! If the tooth is still vital (alive), the procedure must be performed under local anaesthesia. In this case the process is painless. If the tooth is already non-vital (dead) and treatment consists of removing remnants of dead soft tissue and bacteria from the root

Dear Sir/Madam, I have a bridge in the lower right that fills the gap left by missing teeth 6 and 7; the bridge is attached to teeth 5 and 8. The wisdom tooth supporting the bridge has become sensitive to thermal stimuli, both cold and hot. Does this already mean that the supporting wisdom tooth requires treatment, and

Dear Sir/Madam! The causes of hypersensitivity to thermal stimuli and changes in osmotic pressure can be different. Gum recession allows thermal and other stimuli to act directly on cervical and root dentine, which is not protected by enamel or an artificial crown, thus causing u
