At the beginning of October I had a procedure (placement of an implant in the upper left canine region), and since that procedure the adjacent lateral incisor has been very sensitive. It is sensitive only to touch, not to changes such as hot or cold. I would like to know whether this could be a consequence of the procedure or whether the enamel may have been damaged during it. I also feel pressure when I bend forward. The X-ray report was normal. Thank you for your answer and kind regards!

Dear Sir/Madam!
Given that the X-ray showed no abnormalities, it would be difficult to conclude that the cause of the pain is the implant placement procedure itself or the position of the implant. Pain when bending forward suggests inflammation of the mucosa in the paranasal sinus, which could be a consequence of the surgical procedure (the implant is positioned in the immediate vicinity of the sinus wall or in the sinus cavity itself). The pain in the lateral incisor is therefore probably indirectly related to the implant, as inflammation in the paranasal sinus can influence inflammation of the periodontal ligament of the lateral incisor. The changes are most likely temporary and will resolve spontaneously; if not, please see the surgeon or visit us.

Hello,
I would like to have implants placed because I am missing quite a few teeth, but I have heard that antibiotics must be taken before/around the procedure. I myself have not taken antibiotics or other tablets for several years (I eat only natural, unprocessed food and use natural cosmetics), so I would like to know whether a procedure involving the placement of approximately 4–6 implants can be performed without taking antibiotics. Thank you, Barbara.

Dear Sir/Madam! Antibiotics are prescribed prophylactically, that is, to prevent a possible infection of the operative field, which could mean loss of the implant. The operation can also be performed without antibiotics or using only local antibiotics. Have a nice day!

Hello!
I have read all your answers concerning implants in connection with a dental prosthesis, but my case is not among them. In the lower jaw on the left I still have the canine, first premolar and second molar. Everything else is a denture, of course with clasps, while on the right the denture is not retained. What solution would you suggest for retaining the denture with the help of implants, and what would the price be? If you suggest a bridge for the second premolar and first molar, please also tell me the price for that.
Kind regards and thank you for your answer.

Dear Sir/Madam!
There are several possible solutions in your case. If there is enough bone on the right side of the mandible, including in the transcanine region, it would be possible to make a fixed prosthetic restoration supported by several implants and your existing teeth. If we are addressing only denture stability, placement of just one implant on the edentulous side is sufficient, and we can use the denture that has already been made. An exact treatment plan can be made after a clinical examination and review of the X-ray. The price of an implant together with a ball attachment that supports the denture is EUR 1,000.

My left central incisor has been extracted, I have an implant at the right central incisor, and both lateral incisors have been prepared into a conical shape. The problem is that four teeth were made as one piece, and now the whole thing has fallen out of my mouth so it is no longer usable / I no longer have it. In addition, my entire lower first molar is broken off, the second molar is three-quarters broken, and 2 teeth would need fillings. I do not have a personal dentist, so I would pay privately. I would, however, like at least a quick solution for the upper four teeth.

Dear Sir/Madam!
A bridge is made in one week; throughout that time you wear a temporary bridge that provides satisfactory aesthetic restoration. I am afraid the bridge would have to comprise five teeth, because the lateral incisor alone usually does not support the bridge sufficiently. The price of the bridge would be: zirconia crown (350 Eur) x 4 = 1400 Eur. A better solution, provided anatomical conditions do not prevent it, would be implant treatment, which preserves the intact neighbouring teeth.

Dear Mr Rotar!
I am glad that I found your website with so much information and professional answers. Below I am sending you my own questions, for which I sincerely hope to receive your professional answer.
Because of persistent inflammation over many years around the upper left central incisor (since the age of 16; I am now 40), my new dentist advised me immediately at the first examination to have the root post removed and an implant placed by an oral surgeon.
I went to a dental surgeon for an examination and removal of the post. He believes that the defect is so large that he recommends an autologous bone graft and, in the next stage, placement of an implant.
I did not find information about transplantation on your website, and not much on other websites either. I would kindly ask you to answer my questions.
- Do you perform this procedure?
- Is the bone harvested from one site in the jaw (for example, one posterior side), or, if a larger amount of bone is needed, from several sites in the jaw (for example, simultaneously lower left, upper left, lower right, upper right)?
- What amount (cm3) can be harvested from one site?
- Can the harvested bone be used to replace the missing bone at the problematic site where I have the greatest defect (that is above the visible part of the tooth and upward toward the beginning of the mouth) with my own bone from another site in the jaw?
- How long does it take for the transplanted bone to integrate sufficiently with the bone at that site?
- I would also kindly ask how much the complete procedure, including all materials and your work, would cost me (how much for the transplantation, how much for the implant with its crown). Is payment made as treatment progresses?
- Waiting time?
- I would also kindly ask you to explain what alternative to an implant would be possible in my case, given that it concerns the upper left central incisor?
Thank you very much!
Sandra

Dear Sir/Madam!
I follow the German school of Prof. Lang, who also teaches and works at a clinic in New York. In the case of a single missing tooth, we have never needed to place an autologous graft, and in my opinion this is also unnecessary. In the situation described, there is usually such a bone defect that an implant cannot be placed without replacing the missing bone volume. We replace the missing bone with synthetic or non-synthetic products Bio-Oss or Gen-Os (equine bone), together with placement of a membrane that separates the new bone from the soft tissue. The membrane dissolves on its own and does not need to be surgically removed. We usually perform both procedures at the same time: bone augmentation and implant placement. The osseointegration period is extended to 9 months. Price of the procedure: implant with bone augmentation EUR 1,000 + tooth/crown on the implant EUR 420 = EUR 1,420. An alternative to an implant is a bridge, which requires preparation of both adjacent teeth, or an adhesive bridge (the tooth is bonded to the neighbouring tooth only with thin wings).
