Hello, I am interested in veneers. Since they do not last forever, I would like to know what happens to the tooth when the veneers fall off or are no longer there. Is it then necessary to make veneers again, or can we have the teeth without veneers afterwards (the same condition as before veneers were used)? Thank you

Making veneers is an irreversible procedure, although it is far less radical than making a dental crown. When preparing the tooth for a veneer, it has to be ground down slightly, so after the procedure the tooth without the veneer is no longer intact. This means that if the veneer is lost, it needs to be replaced with a new one.

Hello,
I am 18 years old and naturally have quite yellow teeth. Otherwise my teeth are healthy, I do not drink coffee or tea, I do not smoke, I regularly visit the dentist and take care of my oral hygiene. Another issue is that I still have one primary tooth, namely a lower canine. I had an X-ray, which showed that there is no permanent tooth underneath, so in fact I have one tooth fewer. My dentist left the primary tooth in place because she said it is completely healthy. I would like to have my teeth whitened and would like to know whether this is possible in my case at all. Thank you for your answer.
Kind regards,
Marta

Dear Sir/Madam!
Over time teeth change colour toward yellowish, brownish or greyish shades; in short, they become darker. These changes are the result of surface staining (which can be removed) or a deeper colour change that follows changes in the enamel structure. Teeth continue to mature after erupting into the oral cavity, which means that the structure of their hard tissues improves. The enamel crystals become increasingly well organised, and the enamel therefore becomes more translucent to light (similar to glass), making the darker dentine colour more visible. These changes can be masked by whitening, which means that we demineralise the surface enamel layer again, light is scattered more at the surface (rather than passing through the enamel), and the tooth appears whiter.

Dear Sir/Madam!
There are several solutions:
-building up the dental crowns with composite material. The procedure is simple and reversible. Composites may become discoloured over time or come off under greater loads, but the procedure is simple and inexpensive: 2 x EUR 65.
-Making aesthetic veneers is an irreversible procedure, because minimal grinding of the tooth enamel on the front surface of the crown is required. The result is durable and aesthetically excellent. Price: EUR 350 X 2 = EUR 700
-Making artificial dental crowns requires more extensive grinding of the enamel. The result is durable, aesthetically refined and stable. Price: EUR 350 (all-ceramic crown).
I have two teeth that need treatment. I would like to know whether it is possible to get a temporary veneer while the teeth are being treated, whether it can be provided immediately on the same day the treatment starts, and the price. Please reply. Thank you. Kind regards.

Dear Sir/Madam! Temporary restorations can take many different forms. In any case, they can be made immediately (on the same day). Have a nice day!

I am 53 years old and my teeth are becoming increasingly dark, although I do not smoke and drink coffee only occasionally. The recession of the gums from the teeth and the gaps between the teeth are also becoming increasingly noticeable. Otherwise I maintain regular oral hygiene and visit the dentist fairly regularly.
I have already tried to “whiten” my enamel under professional dental supervision (the dentist was not enthusiastic about my wish to bleach!), but I did not complete the procedure because I experienced severe sensitivity and was also afraid of permanent enamel damage.
Kind regards,
Mojca

Dear Sir/Madam!
Teeth become darker over time, which may be due to deposits accumulating on the surface of the enamel or to changes in the structure of the enamel. With age, enamel matures and its quality (density, organisation of crystals...) improves, which means greater resistance to carious processes, but at the same time greater translucency, which means that the colour of the dentine (dark brown) shows through the enamel more strongly. Removing surface deposits is fairly simple, but if we want to change the structure itself, bleaching is of course necessary (a change in the organisation of crystals in the superficial enamel layer), which also represents a certain chemical injury.
If your teeth are moving apart and the clinical crowns are becoming longer, periodontal disease should certainly be considered. I recommend X-ray diagnostics.
